Durable ID Labels for Safety-Critical Pressure Vessels

Project Overview

Romark Labels recently supplied thermal transfer printable durable identification labels for specialist pump valves and associated pressure vessel components, manufactured for use in safety-critical, high-pressure environments. Thats a mouthful!

The project included:

• 316/316L Stainless Steel Seal Pots.

• 6Mo (UNS S31254) Pressure Vessels for high-pressure applications.

  
  

  

  
  

These vessels required:

• Full penetration welding throughout

• 6000 screwed couplings for nozzles

• 100% Radiography

• 100% DPI and PMI testing

• Hardness testing

• Pickle and passivated surface finishes to restore corrosion resistance

  
  

Operating in industries such as oil & gas and nuclear, these vessels are manufactured to extremely high quality standards, with strict inspection and traceability requirements.

Identification labelling needed to match this level of performance and reliability.

The Durable ID Labelling Challenge

Pressure vessel components in demanding industrial environments require labels that:

The Romark Solution

For this application, we manufactured labels using:

RML-M4267UB, a durable, thermal transfer printable matt metalised polyester, combined with a high-performance, ultra-bond, heavy-duty ultra-aggressive permanent solvent acrylic adhesive.

This construction was selected to provide:

• Excellent adhesion to stainless steel surfaces

• Resistance to fabrication handling and inspection procedures

• Compatibility with pickle and passivated finishes

• Long-term durability in high-performance environments

• Clear, permanent identification for compliance and asset tracking
