Overview - System Diagram Labels
Expo Technologies required a highly durable labelling solution for their D758 Motor Purge & Pressurization System and its variants. These units deliver purge flowrates up to 6,000 Nl/min, making them ideal for medium to large electrical machines operating in hazardous environments.
The system comprises a Control Unit (CU) and a Relief Valve (RLV). The CU houses pneumatic logic to monitor and control airflow, pressure, and purge timing, while the RLV measures purge flow and provides over-pressure protection. Together, these components ensure safe and reliable performance.
The Challenge
For safe operation and compliance, operators needed a clear and resilient label mounted inside the unit door, showing a detailed internal layout of both the Control Unit and Junction Box. The label had to include:
Component and part descriptions
Part numbers and diagram reference points
A precise representation of the internal system layout
Because the D758 incorporates Expo’s Closed Loop Automatic Pressurization System (CLAPS) - which actively stabilises pressure fluctuations in large rotating electrical machine - clarity and accuracy were essential. At the same time, the label needed to withstand potential exposure to water, solvents, chemicals, and temperatures ranging from -45ºC to +155ºC

The Solution
Expo Technologies provided Romark Labels with detailed CAD drawings of the D758 system. Our design team recreated these diagrams in-house, producing an intricate technical layout that was transferred onto a metallised satin polyester substrate with a satin silver finish.
This automotive-grade polyester material was chosen for its exceptional resistance to:
Abrasion, solvents, oils, and fuels
Water, UV exposure, and weathering
Extreme temperature cycling
Using thermal transfer printing with solvent-resistant resin ribbons, we ensured the label’s fine detail would remain readable and durable for the long term.

The Outcome
The resulting labels enabled Expo Technologies to:
Improve operator efficiency – allowing technicians to quickly locate and identify parts during installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
Enhance compliance and safety – meeting strict industry standards for hazardous area equipment.
Guarantee long-term reliability – ensuring diagrams remain intact and legible in the most demanding environments.

Conclusion
Through close collaboration, Romark Labels delivered a bespoke, highly durable diagram label for the D758 system. By combining technical precision with our unique materials, we helped Expo Technologies provide their customers with greater operational clarity, efficiency, and confidence in safety-critical environments.
